Our Story
The Hands of Dante Martelli (1954)
The story of Belgravia & Co. did not begin in a modern boardroom, but beneath the amber glow of a small workshop in Italy. It was there that the young master artisan, Dante Martelli, dedicated his life to the pursuit of perfection.
In 1954, Dante was already whispered about among local circles for his handmade footwear, crafted from the finest leathers and using stitching techniques that few still dared to master. He lived by a singular philosophy: “True luxury does not shout; it is felt in every step.” This commitment to quiet discretion and superlative quality would soon catch the eye of Europe’s most discerning elite.
The Ascent into Belgravia Society
The defining chapter of our history began when Dante Martelli brought his talent to the United Kingdom. Establishing his first atelier in the prestigious district of Belgravia, London, he quickly became the best-kept secret of the British aristocracy.
It wasn't long before Dante’s creations were gracing the feet of Lords, diplomats, and the capital’s most influential families, all of whom sought the perfect marriage of Italian flair and British poise. Within this world of exclusivity and heritage, the brand evolved, formally adopting the name Belgravia & Co. as a tribute to the neighbourhood that embraced and established his legacy.
The Evolution of Timeless Style
As the decades passed, Dante’s son, Lorenzo Martelli, expanded the family’s vision, transforming the artisanal workshop into a global name without ever losing its bespoke DNA. Lorenzo understood that while the world was changing, the yearning for timeless sophistication remained steadfast.
Today, under the stewardship of the third generation of the Martelli family, Belgravia & Co. maintains its strategic headquarters in London. We operate as curators of a lifestyle, translating the prestige of our origins for a new generation.
